Hanyang University's 5G·Unmanned Vehicle Research Center (Director Kim Sun-woo) held an agreement ceremony with DBCom Co., Ltd (CEO Koo Jin-mo) on the technology transfer for "5G-based  RTK-GPS" at the Seoul Campus in Seongdong-gu, Seoul on November 15 afternoon.

RTK-GPS refers to a technology that enables to identify the exact location of a specific terminal, which is used in various fields such as disasters and accident sites as well as in real life. This technology is expected to be expanded as it is required in more industries.

The transferred RTK-GPS is an AI-based indoor and external positioning technology that collects the characteristics of 5G signals as big data and learns the neural network to obtain positioning results, so that precise location can be found in future 5G and 6G networks. It can be used not only in 5G but also in 6G mobile communication networks, making it easy to apply and expand the system. It is expected to be applied to various location-based services in the future.

The developer Kim Sun-woo professor said, "Location application services based on location determination technology will be a major technology in the future industry," adding, "We will continuously try to develop technology to commercialize positioning technology-based services."

DBCom CEO Goo Jin-mo, who is developing a GPS system for rescuers and firefighters based on tracking wireless communication at disaster sites, said, “As this technology transfer provided an opportunity to advance positioning technology to the next level, we will develop and commercialize positioning technology with a high degree of completion,” he said.
