Professor Chang Joon-hyuk

Hanyang University announced on May 19 that Professor Chang Joon-hyuk's team at Hanyang University's School of Electronic Engineering (ASML Laboratory) has succeeded in being accepted a total of nine papers at the Internationally best renowned Artificial Intelligence (AI) conference "Interspeech 2023" (hereinafter INTERSPEECH) to be held in Dublin, Ireland in August.

INTERSPEECH is the best renowned academic conference in the field of voice AI hosted by the International Speech Communication Association (ISCA). INTERSPEECH, which has a 25-year tradition, is recognized as one of the two best conferences in the field of voice AI along with the International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP) organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

The nine papers accepted are as follows, △ Diffusion model-based voice synthesis system △ Semi-supervised learning-based sound event detection system using resolution consistency deep-learning △ Improved voice recognition using internal ensemble △ Improved voice recognition using adversarial learning △ Improved speaker differentiation using self-distillation △ Sound source tracking through curriculum learning △ Hybrid noise-cancellation △ Sound source tracking through resolution improvement △ Voice and emotion recognition through Style Token. These papers, related to deep learning-based voice recognition, voice synthesis, speaker differentiation, sound source tracking, and emotion recognition were evenly accepted in major areas of voice AI

Professor Chang's research team plans to present the papers at the ISCA-sponsored "INTERSPEECH 2023" held at the Dublin Convention Center in Ireland in August.

The ASML lab also published a number of papers in INTERSPEECH last year and ICASSP this year, followed by nine papers that will be published in INTERSPEECH this year. Professor Chang said, "It is not common to publish multiple papers at the top AI academic conference," adding, "By publishing a number of papers this year, the ASML lab of Hanyang University has proven its capability as a world-class level."

Meanwhile, the ASML lab led by Professor Chang is currently conducting close industry-academic cooperation with △ Samsung Research △ Samsung Electronics MX division △ Hyundai Motors △ Welaaa △ Kakao Enterprise, and Professor Chang is also the winner of the "Young Engineers Award" presented by the National Academy of Engineering of Korea.
