On the June 22, Hanyang University revealed that its 'IC-PBL Connect & Share Project' that Hanyang University developed was certified as an Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) project by UNESCO. The IC-PBL Connect & Share Project of Hanyang University means learning using the IC-PBL (Industry Coupled Project Based Learning) education model that focuses on learner-oriented problem solving and social value creation through the connection of the university and the society.

The Korean National Commission for UNESCO, since 2011, has been operating the "Korean UNESCO ESD Official Project" which aims at finding various ESD cases of Korean society in practice and spread them, providing detailed ESD practice strategies in Korea, and developing Korean ESD model and introducing it to the international society. Hanyang University's IC-PBL Connect & Share project, which was certified at the 26th regular meeting of the Korean National Commission for UNESCO that recently took place, will be introduced worldwide as part of the official project of UNESCO for three years.

Lim Gyu-geon, a director of the Center for IC-PBL Teaching & Learning of Hanyang University said, "This certification acquirement became a case that proves Hanyang University's IC-PBL education's value and effect that values practical academia which lets learners participate in actual social issue solving and create various social values, through an international professional organization. Further, by creating achievements that are relevant to various social areas and conducting sharing actively, we will try to firmly form a virtuous cycle that is university-society connected in and out of Korea."
